The Motivate.® Origin Story
How a passion project became a powerhouse of movement, mindset, and community.
Motivate.® was born in 2015 from a deep love of coaching, community, and movement. After nearly a decade of teaching barre as a joyful side hustle, founder Meghan took a leap of faith. With her savings, the unwavering support of her husband, and encouragement from her three young boys (then just 12, 11, and 9), she opened a cozy little studio in downtown Newburyport.
There was no business degree—just grit, heart, and 25 classes a week taught entirely by Meghan herself. From scrubbing the toilet to cueing pulses, she did it all while figuring out the ins and outs of entrepreneurship in real time.
Her first two instructors? Loyal clients turned trainees—proof that passion is contagious.
Fast forward five years (and one global pandemic), Motivate.® made a bold move: expanding into a beautiful, light-filled mill space in Amesbury rather than closing its doors. That leap of faith paid off. In 2023, Motivate.® became two studios strong, welcoming the amazing community from Studio Five in Rowley. Then in 2025, we crossed state lines and opened our third studio in the Seacoast town of North Hampton, New Hampshire.
Was it scary? Yes.
Exhilarating? Definitely.
Were there wins? For sure.
Failures? Many.
But she kept at it.
Today, Motivate.® is one vibrant, connected community across three locations—and we’re still growing. Whether you're here to move, laugh, lift, stretch, or find your strength again—we’ve got a spot just for you.
We’re not just a fitness studio. We’re a movement. And now all we need… is YOU.
Still not sure?
We like to joke that Motivate.® is the Bad News Bears of fitness—and honestly, we’re proud of it.
Boutique studio fitness can sometimes feel intimidating, exclusive, or only for a certain age, body, or ability level. We think that’s nonsense. At Motivate, we believe fitness should be fun, inclusive, and doable for real people with real lives.
Small group classes aren’t just safer and more approachable—they’re also way more fun. And fun leads to consistency, which is the real secret sauce of feeling strong, capable, and confident.
So come exactly as you are. We’ve got a team of incredibly skilled (and wildly supportive) instructors who are ready to meet you where you are. Questions? Concerns? Curious where to start? We’re here for all of it.
